UNIVERSITY OF MARIBOR

Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

Laboratory for Process Systems Technology and Sustaninable Development

The University of Maribor was founded in 1975. It is the heir of the Association of Institutions of Higher Education which in 1961 incorporated the existing colleges. They were founded between 1959 and 1961 as a result of the economic and social needs of the northeastern Slovenia.
The Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering was formally founded in the beginning of 1995. At that time the College of Engineering and Technology with the Department of Chemical Technology was founded. Faculty maintains two undergraduate study programs: one first cycle program in Chemical Technology (Applied Chemistry) and one integrated five years engineering program with two options – Chemical Engineering and Biochemical Engineering. Both programs are underpinned by research work, which is mostly financed by the competent ministries. Some projects are international and others are financed by companies. All research laboratories have excellent scientific results combined with developing and applying different technological innovations to address real industrial problems. Cooperation in a number of international activities is taking place (NATO pilot project, NATO symposium, EFCE, PREPARE, FEANI, EURECA, COST Marie Curie Training Site and Socrates scholarships).
